Physical Appearance He’s known for looking like a paler version of Uchiha Sasuke without the scene hairstyle but with some rather obscene fashion style. He likes to expose his mid-drift from time to time, and has an almost experimental but monochromatic sense in clothes. It’s like he tries to mix and match, but fails somehow. Such a striking resemblance to Sasuke means he does get attention, but most people can’t seem to get over that smile… It’s a trademark, really, so fake but so cheerful it pops up everywhere as his default expression.
Personality What personality? His lack of one seems to define his personality. His responses never seem genuine, like cue-card sentences, and he has a lingering amusement in his tone, as if in a constant state of ‘aha…’ or ‘how interesting’ whenever something takes place. He is fascinated by observing social norms, trying to be a part of them but not quite at the point where he is a full participant. He even, to his slight embarrassment, reads books on such subjects. He then makes himself out to be somewhat of a therapist, always citing his books and offering up his knowledge on what he thinks is going on. It’s what makes him believe he’ll be attending Naruto’s and Sakura’s wedding sometime in the near future. To say he doesn’t have feelings would be wrong, they just don’t come out as naturally after years of suppressing them. He can be a comrade and a friend, wanting to do what’s right and be of help, but that doesn’t stop him from poking fun at the people around him. The subject of Naruto’s penis or the lack of it was an ongoing one when he first met the blond.
Strengths
Usually Unaffected: It takes a lot to embarass him, making Sai a very boring target for pranks or put-downs. Not getting emotionally involved gives him a more objective view point and the ability to think things through carefully rather than going on emotions like some people would. He is calm most of the time, and almost never in any extreme of emotion.
Loyal: When he feels indebted to someone, he is willing to do whatever it takes to express his gratitude. His loyalty is not to many, and he can be decietful sometimes, but when it is true he goes the full mile. He was very loyal to Danzo, but that has shifted over to his first true friend, Naruto. Sometimes that means acting for the sake of the person, and not neccissarily what they want.
Studious: He excels in art, he gets fairly good grades in school, and he follows tasks obediently. Sai never has any problems in school and manages to finish everything quickly so that he has more time for his needs. That usually means more time to hit the library and read up on books, but lately it means more time to seek out his friend and socialize among Naruto's and Sakura's crowd.
Flaws
Inappropriate: Hag, Fat, Penis... He says things with abandon, and that causes people to get flustered or angry with him. He says things at the wrong time, or mentions obvious statements in situations where he shouldn't.
Usually Unaffected: As well as a strength, this is a weakness. In situations where one should feel strong emotion, he misses out. He doesn't fall in love (or hasn't), he doesn't cry when someone passes away, he doesn't get jealous or moody. It makes him stand out the most. It's something he struggles with, as his feelings are very dormant and lettingt them out in the appropriate way is a difficulty.
Fashion: He dresses monochrome, and when left to his own devices will do things with his clothes one shouldn't. He may be an artist, but he is no clothing designer. For such a good-looking guy, his apperance is downplayed by such poor choices in clothing. At least his abs are nice to look at. He has yet to realize his problem.
Drink? “I recommend water or tea.”
Smoke? “No thank you.”
Drive?”Yes, I do actually.”
Drugs? “No, they are illegal.”
Partying? “I would like to attend…”
Family Original family all deceased, lives under his adoptive father Danzo.
Residence He actually has his own small apartment and lives by himself. He pays the rent but receives an allowance from his adoptive parent.
History His parents weren’t the best in the world, but they were normal enough he supposed. His brother always talked about them negatively, but he didn’t recall any abuse or neglect. Apparently they had their vices, with their father being a gambler and their mother abusing some illegal substances, but there was always a roof over their heads and food on the table. From what he was told when his parents were driving back from the casino under the influence and a spill involving some alcohol and a crash had led to their death by inferno. While the parents weren’t neglectful of their physical needs; what Sai never came to understand was that they never really bothered with their emotional needs. Sai was always unique in the sense that he didn’t pick up social cues the way his brother could, so he didn’t really grow up with many friends but that was fine with him. He just learned that it was best to smile, and people seemed to be fine with that.
His brother had gotten into a crowd with some wrong somebodies, and had started to grow distant from him once the drugs were affecting him and his gang became more family than Sai was. His brother died as a result of gang violence, and Sai wasn’t sure how to express himself. He was admonished for not showing more remorse, and so instead of his older grandmother taking care of him, he was put in the care of a trusted family friend. Since then Sai had been attending to the crippled Danzo, smiles and all, just going on through the day. The change meant he had to move, and that was how he came about the school.
No big surprise

What makes your character (or interpretation of the character) unique, original, and worth having on the site?
Sai is Sai, and we (okay, I) love him for it. He’s the social commentator, saying things that other people may not, making for some interesting dialogue. He’s a pleasant mix of corrupt and innocent, naïve about some things and downright sick about others. His social awkwardness means he can get away with interacting with people he usually wouldn’t, and it’s all because he doesn’t know any better (or does he? It’s a mystery…)
Role Play Sample
Simple observations, really.
She loved him, but he didn’t seem to love her, but someone else loved her… It was the very popular formula for a love triangle. One could say that there was nobody who deserved Sasuke more than Sakura, who seemed to chase after him constantly, and would display symptoms of infatuation like his book told him. However, no one deserved Sakura quite so much as Naruto, who would even forfeit his feelings for the girl’s shot at love.
‘I like Naruto.’ Sai decided, and would rather see him benefit from all this than Sasuke, who was probably the only boy who managed to creep him out and shake him to the core with fear. The three were sitting around the table, bickering about studying or rather how Naruto was not and therefore disturbing them, when Sai decided to voice this new development to his friend.
“I like you.” He told Naruto, and the conversation seemed to end for some reason… He wanted to add that he wished Naruto luck against his love rival, but he was distracted by the look of utter horror that came across his friend’s face.
Was it something he said?
