The dock that ran off the beach had always been a quiet place that Sasuke found pleasing. There were hardly any people to interrupt with the few occasions of little kids racing down to the end and back, or older adults coming to sea fish in shallow waters. In spite of that, it was silent. The waves made soft crashing noises as they rolled into each other and seagulls would call out every few minutes. It was relaxing and Sasuke needed to calm himself whenever he could. His legs dangled over the edge of the dock, his dark onyx orbs focused on the ocean beneath his hanging feet. The blue liquid was quite still today, but it unsettled the Uchiha heir. Every time he glanced into the pit of the unpredictable sea, he swore he saw that pyschotic murdered that burned his parents to death. The waters would suddenly turn into flames and he could visually see his mom and dad drowning the orange, wisping flames. Right before it consumed them, he would break his gaze away from the sea and look up at the sky, his breath having turned rapid and if it weren't for his rib cage, he was sure his heart would have exploded.
Sasuke closed his eyes and lightly swung his legs back and forth absently, trying not to think of anything in particular. It proved to be impossible. Multiple situations kept raking in the back of his mind. That damn Naruto had been on her nerves lately. The space between himself and Itachi was as tense as it had been since the death of their family members, along with the fact that he questionably dropped out of law school. However, these seemed to be bigger matters at the moment, compared to what they were in reality. It was just when Sasuke was by himself, he tended to sulk a bit - let his guard done, if only for a moment. Flicking his attention to the rock that had been left at the end of the dock, he bent over and picked it up before letting it fall into the waters. The waves rippled into circles and Sasuke found himself absently staring into them.

Naruto was often bored, really.
There was only so much entertainment even a modern game could provide, and he was pretty sure he had sucked every ounce of fun from every game disk he owned at the moment. God, he was just happy he didn't live back then pong was the epitome of game advancement. He was tired of headshots and smacktalk and warthogs and kart races. He was tired of surviving on cheetos and orange soda for days on end.
Naruto needed some good ol' vitamin D - or, at least, he would have thought this if he could remember which vitamin 'D' was. Anyway, he was pretty sure that he needed to go outside.
Fortunately, the blonde boy really had no qualms with the outdoors - this whole video-game obsession had been a somewhat recent development compared to his elementary school days of running around on the playground trying to amuse himself alone. While he wasn't particularly fond of being alone now, he didn't mind it as much as he used to - after all, it was really only temporary. He wasn't really alone; he had plenty of friends who just weren't around at the moment.
Rather than bother any of his friends (who were surely all doing lame things like studying and homework... blech), the Uzumaki male opted instead for a quiet walk of his own, to get away from the constant overstimulation provided by the barrage of electronics in his apartment. He left the iPod Jiraiya had bought him on his bedside end-table, next to his cellphone. Nah, he could call or text back anyone who wanted to get a hold of him - really, no one would be calling him over a life-or-death situation anyway.
Tokyo was a good city for walkers, too. Ensuring the door to the apartment was securely locked, he set out onto the street, ambling around in no particular direction and reveling in the uncommonly nice day for the middle of winter. Perhaps that has been why he had found himself so bored - it had been raining so much in Tokyo lately he was beginning to forget what that bright orange thing in the sky even was.
Of course, when Naruto wandered listlessly through the city, he almost without fail found himself going to one of two places: The park, or the beach.
Today was the latter: the ability to stare out lazily over the crashing waves and swirling waters was so uncommon at this time of year that the blue-eyed boy couldn't resist the temptation.
Apparently though, he was one of the few that thought this way. While no place in Tokyo could ever be truly deserted or devoid of people... the beach was pretty damn close. Strange, he thought, given the circumstances, but he supposed that people were probably too afraid of the impending potential rain that could start pouring down at any moment, threatening to ruin the serenity of any plans made.
He shrugged his shoulders through his orange hoodie; honestly, he found that he didn't really mind the rain either, once he was already out in it - like a cat in a bathtub.
While he was on the subject, he probably needed to give Kit a bath, he realized with a faint smirk. The orange cat was a pain in the ass sometimes, but there were definitely ups to having such a wild, unpredictable, and interesting creature around.
Hands snugly in the pockets of his jeans, The Uzumaki continued to let both his feet and his mind wander, nearly missing the head of spiky ebony hair in his musings. Almost... but not quite.
"Tch, teme," he muttered under his breath, watching as the other male plucked a rock from the rock and skipped it out into the blue water. That fucking guy...
Well, he certainly had nothing better to do today. He found his feet shuffling out onto the wooden structure without really having to think about it, not trying to be particularly quiet but not trying to disturb the Uchiha, either.
"Oi," he muttered a little more softly than his usual yell (not that that was saying much, in all honesty), once he was certain Sasuke was in earshot. "The hell you doing out here?"

The circles in the water wavered out and the ocean flattened out once again before another set of tiny waves disturbed it. His eyes stayed penetrated on the liquid for a few more seconds and then lifted to notice the sun that was nearly beaming into his sight. The past few days in Tokyo had been amiss. The air had been warm, but the sky had been rumbling with gray clouds causing an overcast. Lately, the weather seemed to be haunting, despite the fact that it was predicted to be sunny. Though, Sasuke didn't mind the change. He did prefer the darker days, as he didn't enjoy having the sun scream in his face until night time, but today it didn't provoke him.
Sasuke sighed to himself, finding himself rather bored, rather than repetitively thinking of his past. He had finished all his homework yesterday, since he normally finishes most of it during class once he becomes disinterested in the teacher's lecture. Naturally, he avoided hanging out with anyone. Itachi was never an option to entertain him and, although he usually distracted himself with video games, coming to the beach seemed to be the most satisfying option.
Sasuke's lingering thoughts halted when he heard a familiar voice come from behind him. Instinctively, a certain switch flipped on inside of him, and he smirked to himself. Whenever Naruto was around him, something changed inside the Uchiha. He suddenly became witty and filled with sarcasm. With most people, sure he could make hurtful remarks without giving it a thought, but he hardly ever did. It was easier to just ignore other people completely. Perhaps, he'd even pretend the blond haired idiot didn't exist if he wasn't so damn noisy. The smirk disappeared from his lips and Sasuke turned around to face Naruto. The moron was just standing there, looking at him, awaiting some reply.
Though, the thought did cross the raven's mind that the blond was here alone. In a sense, Sasuke had to acknowledge these things because he was going to have to live with this moron for, at least, until they were out of high school. In order to avoid the pair of blue orbs as much as possible, he'd have to stay updated how the others brain worked and how to stay away from him. He advanced a quiet few steps forward—Sasuke always proceeded with a certain silence. The dock was completely bare, except for a certain blond haired male. Without hesitation, Naruto asked, "The hell you doing out here?"
Tilting his head off to the side in an arrogant, disinterested manner, he resorted, "Just trying to live my life without looking as stupid as you." His tone was impassive, but the fact that it was blunt always put that certain edge to it.
Call it Uchiha intuition or being smart—he does carry the genes of a genius, remember—but he had a feeling that this may not just a quick exchange of insults. It seemed that both of them were alone and bored out of their minds. If anyone had to describe them, they'd categorize them as nothing short of amusing. And Sasuke found some sort of sick amusement in it himself. Torturing the blond had practically become a daily routine over the years - ever since the first day they met, in fact.
"So, deadlast." It was clearly impossible for the black haired boy to not use his favorite nicknames for the blond. "What dragged you in?" His tone still held the same stoic sound, but it was genuine, even if he put it in words that one would take as belittlement. Truly, Sasuke was hardly curious, but there never did seem to be a pause of silence between them. Only on rare occasions or when they got into some type of wrestling match over petty things. He crossed his arms after he spoke, his body lax, and he gave off his typical confident, aloof vibe.
