It really wasn't a date. Nope, that thought was ridiculous and the very notion made her want to smack something.
So she opted for Naruto throughout their walk, only smiling afterward, giving off that angelic glow about her. Sakura was good at that, the whole "devil in disguise" thing. Still, the walk had been rather pleasant given the cool air and the company wasn't bad, she supposed. Sparring her blond-haired, blue-eyed friend a quick glance, the pinkette mentally resisted the urge to facepalm.
Why had she picked Naruto of all people to come with her? She could have just meandered into the store alone with no company at all, but she had allowed her fear of going alone to cloud her brain. Maybe she was overly exaggerating. Naruto wasn't bad when he was behaving, and she knew that she considered him a good friend of hers. Still, old habits die hard or in her case, not at all.
"Come on," she said through gritted teeth, jade eyes flickering up to the large sign that read Fresh Mart looming just over their heads. Allowing some hot air to escape through her teeth, the petite pink-haired girl gripped Naruto's arm (with a force that was a little more than necessary) and tugged him inside the store with her, mood brightening once stepping inside.
Maybe she was bipolar or something like that. Shrugging of her train of thought with a simple eye roll, Sakura reached down inside her bubblegum-colored messenger bag that served as her backpack and extracted a list with scribbles and things highlighted. Lifting it close to her face, Sakura attempted to decipher the horrid chicken's scrawl that was her father's handwriting and exhaled deeply, "First things first, do you need anything while we're here?"
The pinkette knew that her boisterous friend lived off of ramen and whatever random items he threw into his digestive track. She gave up scowling him on it ages ago, but it still went without saying that it irked her. Seeing as though she was dead set on a career in the medical field, the young Haruno often felt the need to explain to Naruto what would happen when his metabolism stopped functioning as fast, but he never listened to anyone, especially her.
She felt another urge to smack the palm of her hand against her forehead but swallowed it down.
"If you don't need anything," she continued, head lifted to read off the contents of the aisles quietly to herself, "then we should get all the dry items like cereal first and then move on to things like milk." See, Sakura had a system that most people who got dragged to the grocery store by her followed.
Naruto? Oh yeah, he was definitely going to be an interesting person to haul around the aisles.

A trip to the grocery store really seemed like a strange date to him.
Of course, Sakura insisted that it wasn't. But Naruto knew better. The pink-haired woman had plenty of friends she could have asked for help, people that would, as much as he didn't like to admit it, be more helpful than he in this situation. Sai had a car, why didn't she ask him?
So, the blonde couldn't help but grin to himself as they walked side by side to the Fresh Mart, still in their school uniforms and sporting backpacks filled with textbooks and binders.
Was it sad that the thing he looked forward to most for the rest of the day was hanging out with his crush in a grocery store?
A little. But he had to make the best of it.
Underneath that confident grin he was a little worried; the pinkette's scowl made him wonder if he was really welcome on this little grocery expedition afterall, or if he was going to get punched, slapped, and otherwise abused for the duration.... more than he already was whenever he hung out with the Haruno girl. A saner part of him wondered why he endured this kind of abuse when there were plenty of other girls around... but then another part of him argued that they just weren't his Sakura-chan. There was always the possibility that there was something going on that had nothing to do with him or the grocery store... didn't she say that she usually went with Ino? Maybe they had gotten into a fight or something...
But it seemed that as soon as they passed through the automatic sliding glass doors that Sakura's temperament did a complete 180.
Her voice brought him out of his thoughts; he looked over at her while she studied the aisle markers and scanned a handwritten grocery list. "Some insta-ramen," he said seriously, trying to imagine the cupboards at home: he knew he was getting low, and he really had no idea when Jiraiya was going to be home from his latest 'research expedition'. He knew Sakura wouldn't be particularly pleased with the nutritional content of the instant noodle cups he held so dear, but he could always let her convince him to buy some 'healthy' food, he supposed... as long as said convincing didn't require first aid after the fact.
"Do you want me to get a cart?" he offered, glancing around for the cart corral while she pondered the most efficient way to go through the store. Really, did it matter all that much? Usually he just went for exactly what he wanted in whatever order he could remember and then left. He supposed Sakura was always better at organizing things than he was, though.

Instant Ramen.
The need to hit her flat palm against the broad surface of her forehead grew deep within her, but Sakura quelled that idea down. After all, despite her commentary on Naruto's unhealthy eating habits, the boy still never listened to her. Settling for a swift eye-roll, the pinkette only lowered the list from her face, lips pursed in a rather huffed expression. "You're going to be as large as a blue whale when your metabolism slows you know," came her predicable comment. Still, she'd have the chance to argue with him when they were at the frozen vegetable isle; that was something she wasn't about to back down on.
Walking away from her blond haired friend and over to the row of carts sitting there, Sakura wrapped both hands around the one closets to her and gave a tug, lips marring into a frown. Why wasn't the buggy coming loose? Shutting her eyes, she exhaled deeply and did her best not to yank out the contraption that would be holding her (and Naruto's for she decided she was going to make him buy real food) groceries. Man, she really needed to consider investing into anger management sometimes because this wasn't normal. Finally, after several moments of tugging, the cart came free and Sakura wheeled it back to where she had left Naruto.
"Let's get your stuff first." Her green eyes trailed down her list once more before they flickered back up to Naruto's. Slowly she smiled and stuffed the already-wrinkled scrap of paper into her backpack, "And I've also decided that we're buying you real food. I won't deny you of your ramen, but you're buying something green and leafy, got it?" When Haruno Sakura was determined about something, then she'd fight for it until it happened. And if getting Naruto to eat healthier meant she had to forcefully shove something with vitamins in it down his throat then by God she'd do it.
Slipping her index finger into the collar of Naruto's shirt, Sakura pinched the fabric material between her thumb and started walking forward, jerking his body behind her. Once they were halfway down the aisle (she was pretty positive he was choking by now) she let go and stopped the cart once they stumbled upon their first destination: the Fruit and Vegetable aisle.
Leaning elbow on the handle of the basket and then her chin upon her positioned hand, the pink-haired teen only casted her blond companion a look before shaking her head and sighing softly, "Just..pick things that are the least offensive for you to swallow and I'll see if there is something you're missing." This first and then we can go pick up your ramen."

Being nearly seventeen years old and male, eating healthy was far from the first on his list of important things on his mind. And why the hell were they shopping for him, anyway?
...Well... he needed food, but what was the point of getting dragged around and forced to eat healthy crap? Seriously, vitamins be damned, he only cared if it was tasty. But, in his experience, he was keenly aware that the Pink-haired girl dragging him by his shirt collar wouldn't take that as an answer.
He looked around the produce section with a defeated sigh, trying to see if he could grab something she would approve of but still pallet. Nothing looked particularly appetizing, and she specifically mentioned green and leafy...
He walked dejectedly over to a lettuce display, reaching his hand out to grab the greens before something decidedly more orange caught his attention. Next to the lettuce was a display of baby carrots... those were healthy, right? Weren't they good for your eyes or something? And if you ate too many, they turned your skin orange.
Briefly, Naruto entertained the thought of an orange person walking around, before snatching a bag of the root vegetable and taking them back to the cart. He flashed a grin at Sakura before returning to the display, looking for other things he could tolerate.
There: the next row over was a display of oranges and other citrus fruits. The Uzumaki wasn't a huge fan of sweet things but oranges and grapefruits were a good combination of sweet and sour without the bitter vegetable taste that kept him away other healthy things... he supposed. He grabbed a few of the large citrus fruits and put them in the cart as well, mentally deciding that he would buy as little as he could get away with under Sakura's supervision and come back later.
"Hey, hey, what about you, though?" he asked her, looking around. "We can get stuff at the same time, and just keep it separate in the cart, right? So we don't have to come back through here again?" Maybe, if she was preoccupied with her own shopping, she wouldn't pay so much attention to his.

"Hm, that actually sounds like a good idea," confirmed Sakura with a click of her tongue, fingers drumming on Naruto's cart. This shopping experience was supposed to be for her and it somehow manged to morph into being a shopping trip for her blond friend. Lifting up her hand, Sakura pinched the bridge of her nose and shook her head, "Anyways, I'll get a basket. You stay here...and get some vegetables. The green kind, okay?" Straightening up, the pinkette tracked back to the front of the store and frowned, the lines creating harsh contrasts on her face as the memory of her battle with the carts replayed in her head.
Sakura verses the shopping cart, take two.
Placing her hands on the straight handle and giving it a firm yank, the rosette merely blew a single, stray hair away from her face and wheeled the free contraption back to where Naruto was still standing. With a lifted eyebrow she examined the items placed inside of his basket with mild interest. Hadn't she said green, specifically? Sighing, Sakura reached forward for a thin, plastic bag and grabbed the head of lettuce the blond had abandoned in favor for fruit. Slipping it in and tying a knot at the top, she placed it into his cart gently and gave him a strict look. It was that 'Don't-Challenge-Me-Or-Else' looks that, if followed by a protest, would earn themselves a punch in the face from the violent pink-haired girl.
Most people would like to avoid those fists of fury, if at all possible. However, targets people such as Naruto and Sai were just prone to earn her knuckles in their faces; it came as natural as breathing for her. Perhaps she should seriously re-consider those anger management classes offered to her by her concerned parents; they would probably help.
After tossing in a few items for herself (and making sure to place some in Naruto's cart), Sakura beamed and turned back to her friend, question upon the very tip of her tongue. "Has your milk gone bad yet? she asked, placing the last of her vegetables into the back of her cart. Knowing Naruto, he probably had no clue if it was expired or not. He did have a tendency to drink rotten, spoiled milk.

Naruto glared at the items his pink-haired best friend added to his cart, contemplating putting them back while she wasn't looking. "Gah, but I hate fresh vegetables," he murmured weakly after every addition, scowling at a bunch of celery. Weren't fruits and vegetables in the same food group or whatever? Why couldn't he just eat Cantaloupe and dried mangoes for his vitamins?
Of course, he knew better than to actually ask, lest he feel the wrath that was the end of the pinkette's temper. She was only looking after him, he supposed, but why did the way she wanted to look after him have to taste so gross? Fresh vegetables were so... They tasted like bitter grass, like getting tackled on the soccer field and getting a faceful of turf. Why would anyone want to eat that sort of thing willingly?
The last thing he wanted, though, was a knuckle sandwich from the girl, so he held his tongue as she tossed more and more things into his basket before finally deciding that was enough poison nutrients for the moment and moving on to the dairy aisle.
Did he have fresh milk? He shrugged, mumbling "dunno," out of the corner of his mouth to the emerald-eyed girl. He never really paid attention to things like shelf life dates, he just ate it until it tasted funny... and probably even then, too. This had caused him problems in class and elsewhere more than once, but it seemed like it was harmless almost just as often and the blonde had never really learned his lesson on the subject.
"I think I'm running low, though, anyway," he added, closing his eyes and trying to imagine the contents of his refrigerator. Oh well, it was good to stock up, right? He could get some of that orange cheese while he was at it.
As the blonde pushed his cart, occasionally, his feet tended to leave the ground as he bent over the handlebar of the basket and pushed himself forward, breaking with the heel of his foot before he ran into any displays. Preoccupied with the block of cheese (that looked sort of like a brick; briefly he entertained a daydream involving a completely orange house made out of nothing but cheese), he looked down the aisle to find that his pink-haired shopping partner was at the other side; a few quick steps and he sailed down the aisle on four wheels, breaking when he was next to the girl and just before an old woman tottered in front of him.
Grinning at his expert timing, he looked over at Sakura and gave her a thumbs up. Yes, he had meant to do that on purpose, and not bowl over some little granny in the grocery store. "Hey, Sakura-chan, what's your favorite food, anyway?" he asked, not really sure if he actually knew or not.

Sakura only gave her friend a long, hard stare, lips pursing together in a thin line. After a few moments of this, Sakura rolled her eyes, "Oh jeez, Naruto, do you know how unhealthy it is to drink spoiled milk? We'll buy a new carton and, when you get home, you're throwing the other one away!" This was, in her own strange way, Sakura's display of concern for her blond-haired friend, hyperactive friend. She might smack him around and tease him all the time, but the pinkette did truly care about his well-being.
Y'know, when he wasn't making a complete and total moron out of himself.
Lifting a well-manicured eyebrow, Sakura only shoved her cart along, green eyes rolling in exasperation. "You could hurt her!" chastised the pink-haired girl, hand grabbing an item from the counter and placing it neatly inside of her basket, "And then you'd have to take her to the hospital and pay for her bills." She shot Naruto a quick 'don't-contradict-me-or-I'll-land-my-fist-in-your-face' look and paused for a moment when asked a question.
What was her favorite food, anyways? Sakura supposed she could always lie and say something healthy to influence Naruto to eat, well, healthier, but she only smiled and shook her head.
"I guess I like sweet things," confessed Sakura, adding a large carton of milk from the refrigerated shelf into her basket, "Like umeboshi or anmitsu, but I'm not really picky as long as it isn't spicy." At the thought of spice entering her food, Sakura's nose scrunched up as if remembering something that smelled quite horrible. Shaking those thoughts away, she wheeled her cart down the aisle and turned her head over her shoulder to get a better glance at Naruto, "I'd ask you the same question if I didn't already know the answer."

"Awh, Sakura-chan, if I didn't know better, I'd say you actually cared!" he said with a grin, pushing his cart next to hers with one hand and wrapping his free arm around her shoulders, pulling her into a sort of sideways hug. Of course, she was such a mother hen that there was no way that the fact she cared about him in at least some manner wasn't painfully obvious, especially even to him. Teasing her was always fun, though, since she was cute when she was flustered... just not when she was swinging hay-balers at his face. He nodded at her, signaling that yes, he would throw the expired milk away when he got home (providing he remembered, that is). Maybe he ought to try drinking it more; the carton always went bad because he only had a glass with breakfast sometimes.
He looked down the aisle at the old lady he had nearly hit to ensure she was still teetering along, letting out a minor sigh of relief despite himself. "Nah, it's all good, Granny's fine. I know what I'm doing anyway." They rounded the corner and went down the next aisle, the blonde boy keeping an eye peeled on the shelves for anything he wanted, but honestly nothing really sounded good enough to be worth moving his arm from around the pinkette's shoulders. As long as she didn't complain, he decided silently, it was staying there.
"Maybe you should come over and start having breakfast with me, Sakura-chan, and I'd actually use the whole carton," he said suddenly, joking... sort of, anyway. Because, honestly, he wouldn't mind so much if she took him up on that offer. "Maybe once a week or something? That would be kind of awesome. And then you'd know I actually made it to class okay," he continued, the scene flashing before his eyes. He had to make sure to clean up the place before she ever got a chance to look in side again, especially after last time... "I think maybe I could handle some sweet things for breakfast, too..."

Sakura shrugged her shoulders several times, trying to pry Naruto's arm off of her shoulder. It wasn't budging, though, and she only let out an annoyed sigh, shooting the blond a look through the corners of her eyes; a deadly look, that was. "Of course I care you moron," muttered Sakura in the lowest of all tones. Hell, one would probably have to strain their ears just to be able to catch anything from that sentence, but that was how the pinkette wanted it to be. She would rather walk around in nothing but her underwear before admitting that she cared about the boy gripping her shoulder.
....Then again, Naruto would probably like her walking around in her frilly unmentionables so forget that idea entirely.
Getting more irritated about the lack of space between them, Sakura's hand traveled up and over Naruto's, yanking his arm off of her with a light pink dusting across her cheeks, signaling that she was rather flustered at the moment. However, instead of telling him off for it like her inner personality was urging her to do, she reached up for a can of soup and paused, bright green eyes staring down at the label. Oh sure the thought of beating Naruto to a bloody pulp with the piece of aluminum was a very tempting idea, but the grocery store probably had security cameras and the last thing the pinkette needed was to get dragged off to jail for attempted murder battery.
Placing her items inside her cart, Sakura trailed over to the bread aisle, only half-listening to her friend's rather, erm, interesting proposal. From over her shoulder she frowned, mind replaying the events from the last unfortunate time she had stopped over at the blond's house. "As...tempting as that sounds, Naruto, I do believe that I'm going to have to pass."
The last time Sakura had dropped by, Naruto's room had tried to eat her alive. Perhaps she was exaggerating only slightly, but she did slip on some old ramen, hit her head against a wooden table, and somehow manage to end up with his boxers--
Yeah, she wasn't even going there. However, maybe stopping by to make sure he was taking care of himself wasn't such a bad idea. After all, he was home alone often, and it was no surprise that didn't look out for himself better. Sighing, the pink-haired girl stopped her cart in front of some loaves of bread, turning around to face her friend with her hands resting just in the slight curves of her hips, "Actually, that doesn't sound like such a bad idea. Me checking up on you sometimes, that is, to make sure you actually go to class and are eating real food. You need to start taking better care of yourself."

He let the pinkette pull his arm from around her shoulders, less surprised or hurt by the action than honestly wondering why it had taken so long. While the blonde was a sucker for hugs, he didn't really think Sakura shared the same enthusiasm. Considering how uptight she got when someone even mentioned porn or intimacy of any kind... the blue-eyed boy gave a mental shrug and let his arm fall to his side without complaint, hoping that can she had picked up wouldn't become a bludgeoning object. He wanted to keep all his blood today, kay thanks.
Of course, if they were on the soup aisle, it could only mean one thing.
He ignored the individual displays entirely; he had no interest in buying single packages. No, there were the large economy size boxes (that he could blow through in a couple days, not that he was going to tell Sakura that) and those were the ones he needed to buy. Hell, it was no Ichiraku, but it would due.
He was almost surprised he didn't bleed ramen noodles from wounds. kneeling down, he grabbed one of the big ramen packs in each hand and set them into his cart, preemptively explaining himself with a half-lie: "Just stocking up." Normally, he would buy more, but he was sure to get chewed out by the green-eyed girl for it and while she was cute when she was flustered, as the telltale pink twinge on her face oh-so-prominently displayed she was now, she was less cute and more terrifying pissed off, and she was just annoying when she was naggy.
She refused his suggestion right off the bat, something he wasn't all that surprised about, either. He was joking (well, more or less) when he had said that, and he didn't really expect her to agree. So, when she changed her mind after a few moments and said she would start checking in, even if it was just to make sure he was 'taking care of himself', he couldn't help but do a double-take.
"Really?" he blurted, mentally slapping himself as soon as the word came out. "Oh, well... yeah. That's cool, just let me know when, then, yeah?"

Jutting her hip out to lean against her cart, Sakura only pursed her lips, eyes taking in the amount of ramen Naruto was tossing inside his own basket. It wouldn't do her any good to continue to nag at the poor blond, so she opted for keeping her mouth sealed, emerald eyes only staring intently as he loaded in the boxes. "Where do you even put all of that ramen?" The question could be taken both literally (as in where he stored all of his food inside of his apartment) or figuratively (i.e., where all of the food when because he clearly didn't store body fat).
.....Sakura was almost jealous of how much ramen Naruto could consume without having to worry about the calories and pounds. Not that the pinkette was self-conscious about her weight, but it went without saying that she couldn't eat her own body weight in salty ramen without gaining a hundred pounds. Naruto on the other hand? Yeah, he definitely had the fastest metabolism she had ever encountered. Then again, he was a rather active person, with all that flailing and running around he did.
Why was she even thinking this again? Shrugging off those thoughts, the green-eyed girl turned back around and lifted a nicely manicured eyebrow at Naruto's sudden look of surprise. She couldn't blame him for being slightly off guard; she was beginning to question why she had agreed to check in on him in the first place. Deep inside the corners of her mind, a tiny voice was protesting that it was because she cared but she opted for choosing not to listen to it.
"Don't look so shocked," she retorted, sly grin sliding across her face. "Since you invited me over, maybe I'll start checking up and making sure you do your homework assignments, too." Truly, Naruto had not been thinking clearly upon opening his apartment to her. She honestly wasn't sure how to express her feelings without coming off as motherly; it was just a Sakura thing.

To be honest, even Naruto wasn't really sure where all that ramen went - his body hardly had any fat on it at all despite the almost frightening amount he tended to consume. He couldn't explain it any better than writing it off as a combination of a fast metabolism and his overall hyperactivity. He made a face at Sakura's comments about checking his homework; hopefully she would keep herself too busy to make good on that offer. Hopefully. "Oh, no, I know you're busy, it's fine..." Even if he liked her company, he wasn't so sure he was up for that level of masochism. Or was he? After all, it did mean more time together...
They rounded the next aisle as the blonde contemplated his gluttony for punishment, skipping a few as they went; the magazine and paper-product aisle that he never really understood the reason for having in the first place... there were racks in the checkout stands for magazines, though he supposed that having a place to buy last-minute greeting cards was kind of useful. Not to mention they didn't usually put the gamer mags in the checkout stands, for whatever reason. Then there was the... well, the... um... what did they call it? The 'feminine product' aisle. He wanted nothing to do with that; if Sakura needed to deal with that she could do it when he wasn't around to witness. After that was the pet food aisle, and as far as he could remember he still had enough food for Kit, his orange cat; the toads only ate live food so it wasn't worth buying anything from a grocery store over.
Naruto found himself on the edge of the bakery, deciding to look at the freshly-made food instead of following the linear pattern of aisles: There were chocolate-chip muffins calling his name and beckoning him over. He picked up a plastic container of them and pondered them for a moment, before eying a container of blueberry instead and deciding that if they had fruit in them they were bound to be healthier and switching them out.

"You're just saying that because I'd actually force you to do your homework," concluded Sakura, left hand gluing to her hip (or the small indentation between her stomach and legs; Sakura wasn't exactly blessed in the curves department) and her free hand resting along the handlebar of her shopping cart. Idly she watched as Naruto picked up muffins and laid them down in his cart, mind reeling over a couple of thought processes to which none where worth exploring further. Pushing up from her cart, the pink-haired girl moved over to the french bread sitting innocently next to the muffins. Picking up a loaf, she debated if buying such an item was a good idea until she realized that her father had always been fond of said bread. Turning around, Sakura moved to place the long, stone-like bread inside of her cart, accidentally whacking her blond friend in the process.
Almost immediately she recoiled, clutching the bread to her chest with a cross expression of concern and amusement. "Sorry about that, Naruto. I must have misjudged how tall this actually was." The sad truth was, however, that Naruto had been hit upside the head with a lot worse during his time and friendship with Miss Haruno Sakura. There was one time she had viciously thrown her waffle maker at him during a rare visit to her home. After the incident at Naruto's apartment, she had started offering her house as a place of hangout in case they were both bored and had nothing better to do.
Shaking away the thought, the pinkette's gaze trailed down to her rather filled cart and nodded, hands digging out the grocery list stashed inside of her pocket. "Well, I think that's about everything for me. Is there still something you need to pick up while we're here?" Thankfully, Sakura wasn't the type to drag Naruto down the womanly isle for sake of his sanity, and her own.

The thought of muffins and the thought of being forced to do his homework in a timely fashion rather than just scrawling it in the hallway at the last moment were having a rather epic duel of emotions in his head, distracting him from his surroundings. Well... a part of him argued, it wasn't even that. As seemed to be the root of all problems in high school, the real problem happened to be a girl. The one standing a few feet away from him, specifically.
He turned into an idiot (some would argue an even bigger idiot) when she was around, and he grudgingly admitted this to himself. After all, what was the point of lying? But he would do anything for his friends, and she was that at the very least, even if he saw her as more. He could handle himself well enough when she wasn't around, but for some reason when Haruno Sakura was in his vicinity, it seemed almost as though everything he did suddenly was to impress her, to make her realize how cool he was, and how he was more fun and cared about her way more than Sasuke ever could...
...And it was his complete internal immersion in these thoughts that prevented him from noticing the baguette until after it had thwacked him in the face.
And people wondered why he didn't like to think about things too much. Contrary to popular belief, he didn't like to be intimately acquainted with bread unless it was about to go down his esophagus.
He glared at the pink-haired girl out of his peripheral vision - sure, she said she apologized, but really, how could you smack someone with a loaf of bread and not do it on purpose? Sure, he might turn into an idiot around the girl, but he wasn't that much of a moron.
Pushing his cart over to the rack of freshly-baked loaves, he picked one up and pretended to look it over; It was a long, thin loaf infused with Italian herbs and spices, and didn't sound all that terrible of a snack... but snacking was not the intended use he had for the yard-long item in his hands.
Pushing his cart back over to Sakura, he 'accidentally' returned her previous little gesture, giving a drawled "oops," as his only explanation.
Of course, this meant war.

If one could ignore Sakura's history of sporadic, violent tendencies, perhaps the action of whacking Naruto across the face could be looked over as accidental. However, considering Naruto had known the pinkette since childhood, it was almost impossible that he'd just buy her apology and be done with the matter entirely. Still she tried, hoping that he'd take the bait and leave it at that. While Sakura honestly hadn't meant to hit Naruto square in the face, she wasn't going to deny that she did not find it amusing.
Snorting in a rather unladylike manner, Sakura placed her bread inside of her cart, the loaf standing upright inside of the cart. As she turned around, her face met bread, smacking into her face just as hers had a couple of moments before. Blinking for a moment, she processed what he just did, thinking out the best way to go about this. Curiously her eyes scanned around her, trying to locate some item that could do damage upon his rather innocent-looking idiotic face.
Oh, Haruno Sakura did not get one upped. Was Naruto looking for a death wish? While he was her friend, Sakura was known to be quite a ferocious beast should her temper be provoked. A evil smirk, one that could rival Satan himself, spread across her lips, hands reaching back into her cart for her weapon loaf of bread. Removing it from the cart and pushing said metal contraption aside, the pinkette only stared Naruto down, wrapped bread looming dangerously close to him.
"You are going to regret that," said Sakura in a sing-song voice, smacking her blond friend in the shoulder and darting back to her grocery cart. Naruto had started the war, and Sakura was a sore, sore loser. Losing was not an option, especially not to her ramen-loving, vegetable-hating friend.
Skidding over to her cart, Sakura used it to put space between them, eyes signaling for Naruto to try his worse to her. Finally, after examining his weapon, the pinkette allowed a snicker to escape her mouth along with, "Your bread sucks, too. Prepare to lose, Uzumaki Naruto. You challenged the wrong girl."
It was a good thing Sakura had played ninja along with the rest of the kids or else her taunting would have been a lot worse than it already was.
