Alright, so, you've checked out the site a little bit, and now you want to join. So, what do you do?
Well. First of all, check out the plot and the rules, both of which have links posted on the top-right of the site.
Then, make an account! Use any name you want; we don't mind what you call yourself as long as it's appropriate. You don't have to name yourself after your prospective character, either.
Check out the 'Wanted!' sub-board. Members of the site have posted up various things they'd like new members to consider when making a character. These include things like roommates, cute store clerks, and other possibilities. You don't have to fill one of the wanted ads if you don't want to, but it would be greatly appreciated if you did!
Also on the Wanted board is the list of canons that are available, taken, or in the process of being applied for. We do not put holds on characters; until an application is approved and the character is assigned to an RPer anyone may apply for that character. Be sure to make it known that you'd like to apply though, as we tend to go through the approval process fairly quickly.
After you've done all that, start on your profile. The template we want you to follow can be found in the character registry, also listed under important links. If you need any help coming up with information, check out some of the threads listed in Helpful Hints. We're looking for intriguing, interesting interpretations of the canon characters, and original, compelling OCs, so please make sure to convey this in your writing! If you do decide to make an OC, be sure to check that they would fit in well with the current cast and that we don't already have several shy brunette girls that are naturally beautiful and have hearts of gold, you know?
As for the ages of the cast, the Rookie nine are just starting their Junior year of high school. So, in short, add a year to your characters' Shippuden age. Team Gai should be in their Senior year, and OCs are open to any grade.
When you're done with the application, wait for input from an admin. While you're waiting, feel free to introduce yourself or join a discussion in general chat.
Once you've made any necessary changes and your character has been approved (this might take a few edits, though), you should:
After you've done these three things, start posting! Write a journal entry for your character chronicling their life in Tokyo or their day at school; write an open thread o jump into another person's open thread; or ask someone specifically if they would like to work out a thread or plot with you.
Have fun!

Once you've made any necessary changes and your character has been approved (this might take a few edits, though), you should:
- Pick a color you want to be associated with your character. This is important for speech, and if your character is nominated for a quote of the week, among other things. If you're having problems deciding, there is a list of hexadecimal (hex) code sites in helpful hints, titled 'Colors'
- Make a communication page, listing your character's contact info, like their cell phone number and email address
- Make a relationship page, where other members can post the relationships their characters have with yours, from rivalries to brotherly love to indifference.
After you've done these three things, start posting! Write a journal entry for your character chronicling their life in Tokyo or their day at school; write an open thread o jump into another person's open thread; or ask someone specifically if they would like to work out a thread or plot with you.
